I really envy Virat Kohli's energy level on and off the field: Ravi Ashwin

As Indian skipper, Virat Kohli celebrates his 33^rd birthday today, various cricketers and experts around the world are coming up to send him good wishes. In the same line of events, ace spinner Ravi Ashwin also opened up on his thoughts about Kohli and talked in length about his energy levels on and off the field.

Ashwin added that Kohli is a great leader in the red-ball format and having played with him, he can say that plays with ‘his heart on sleeve.’ Ashwin lauded the energy levels which the Indian skipper brings to the table even when the match situations are not going in their favour. In fact, Ashwin stated that he envies this aspect of Kohli.

“With respect to having dealt with him as a leader in the red-ball format. All I can say is he plays with his heart on his sleeve. Sometimes, when I watch Virat lead the side, I feel like how he does he manage to bring so much energy. I really envy Virat’s energy level on and off the field,” said Ravi Ashwin in a video posted by Star Sports on Twitter.

Ashwin went on to praise Kohli by stating that he produces great energy on the field and that really absorbs well on the people. The kind of culture he has pushed inside the team is commendable, reckoned the senior spinner. It is known to all around the world that Kohli always seems high-spirited and passionate on the field and this is clearly visible in his action and even while pushing the other players.

“And I think that the energy he infuses on the field really absorbs on the people. One thing is you can stand up tall and I can say at the top of my voice is the kind of culture he has brought in the team,” he added.

Though Kohli still lacks an ICC trophy in his cabinet, he is regarded as one of the best batters Indian has produced so far and his batting numbers also shine at the highest level.
