MS Dhoni, the former Indian skipper is one of the best cricketing minds in cricket. He has earned the reputation as one of the best finishers as well. He has proved it again and again for whichever team he has played until now. And, Faf du Plessis, Dhoni’s IPL teammate has given his opinion that he sees the former Indian skipper as the best finisher in the game.

The 38-year-old is leading CSK since its inaugural season. Under his captaincy, Chennai based franchise has won three IPL trophies and a couple of Champions League tournaments. It was not only his captaincy skills that helped CSK in becoming one of the best franchises of the IPL, but also his batting. On several occasions, he took his side to the victory from the situation when winning the match looked simply impossible.

Faf du Plessis heaps praise on MS Dhoni

In a clip posted by CSK, Faf du Plessis can be spotted speaking about the importance of MS Dhoni in the team. The 34-year-old said that in his opinion the CSK skipper is a big finisher of the game. It is always great to watch how Dhoni construct his innings and lead the side to victories on the back of his calculative mind according to Du Plessis.

He also recalled one of Dhoni’s innings against RCB from the previous season. The former South African skipper said  that the side was reeling out at a score 60 for the loss of six wickets but the 38-year-old took the crease and changed the dimension of the game on the back of his blistering knock of 87 runs off 40 balls. He also added that the side lost the thrilling encounter by just one run but that knock was enough to tell how good Dhoni is when it comes to batting in difficult circumstances.

“MS Dhoni has been, obviously, part of the team since the beginning but I see him as the best finisher in the game. To have been on the field and in the side for so many years and to have just seen him construct innings together and how he has finished games,” Faf du Plessis said in a video tweeted by CSK.

“Last year against RCB. I think we were 60-6 or 7 and basically we should be bowled out for 90. He was in at the moment and absorbed pressure very well. Then he started hitting more and more sixes. The sixes he was hitting was out of the stadium. He ended up getting 87 off 40-odd balls (sic),” he added.
