Suresh Raina has been out of the Indian side for close to two years now. While talking to Rohit Sharma on Instagram live, the batsman revealed that he believes there is a lot of cricket left in him. The Chennai Super Kings batsman has been trying his best for the past two years but hasn’t found a consistent run at the international level.

During the interaction, Raina said that he has been working really hard to get back into the Indian side. The left-handed batsman admitted that he has been helped by many big players during his bad phase.

“I was correcting myself, I regained fitness after a knee injury and in the process, I also passed the yo-yo test. I put in a lot of hard work to get into the team, big players always supported me during my bad phase and I still have cricket left in me,” Raina told his fellow Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma during an Instagram live session.

We always talk about bringing you back into the team: Rohit Sharma says to Suresh Raina

The Indian vice-captain admitted that there have been many discussions on including Raina once again in the Indian side. He said team selection is not in hands of any player, hence they should keep working hard.

“We always talk about bringing you (Raina) back into the team but team selection is not in our hands and we should always keep doing the hard work,” the India opener said.

A few days back, the Uttar Pradesh batsman criticised the selectors for not treating him right while he was going through a bad phase. He expressed that the selectors should have communicated properly on what he is lacking.

“I think selectors should have taken more responsibility towards the senior players. Tell me, if I have any deficiency then I will work hard. When the cause is not known, how he will improve,” he had said.

Suresh Raina was dropped out of the ODI team at the end of 2015. However, he was brought back into the T20 side in 2016. He never quite made an ODI comeback. He was with the T20 side in 2016 and 2018 but wasn’t picked for the ODI squad except for one series in 2018.

The 33-year-old batsman has played 78 T20Is for India scoring 1601 runs. He has also played 226 ODIs and scored 5615 runs at an average of 35.31. He has scored five centuries and 36 fifties.
