Kolkata Knight Riders spinner Sunil Narine revealed his disappointment over Kieron Pollard’s sudden retirement from international cricket but wished him success in his future endeavours. Pollard noted his decision on Wednesday (April 20) and will subsequently no longer be the captain of the West Indies side as well. The right-hander, however, will continue to ply his trade for franchises around the world in the T20 format.

Pollard who is currently part of the Mumbai Indians set up in the ongoing IPL edition has gone to represent his country in 123 ODIs, and 101 T20Is and was part of the 2012 T20 World Cup-winning campaign as well. The 34-year-old has played a lot of cricket alongside Narine for the CPL side Trinbago Knight Riders franchise, and both have played major roles in the success of the franchise over the years.

There is a lot more cricket in Kieron Pollard: Sunil Narine

After Pollard announced his decision, a lot of West Indian cricketers and IPL stars respected his move despite being disappointed. Narine meanwhile, was quite sad and noted that he had a lot to offer his country. He expects Pollard to come good in the upcoming tournaments and felt there is a lot more entertaining action left in him.

“It’s sad, I think he has much more to give to West Indies, but I think he himself has to know when it’s time, and that’s what is important. I wish him all the best in his future endeavours and whatever tournament he is playing and I’m sure he will have lots of success. He still has a good fan base and I hope he enjoys it,” Narine told in the video posted on Instagram.

“They love to see him play in West Indies, but he knows best. I think he is going to focus more on T20 cricket around the world and I think he enjoys it a lot. There is a lot more cricket in Pollard. It’s not the end and I am definitely sure that there is more excitement to come,” Narine concluded
