The 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is a season to forget for David Warner. While the dashing Australian opener started the season as Sunrisers Hyderabad captain, he couldn’t even find a place in side’s dug-out in the latter stages. For the unversed, Warner was sacked as SRH captain midway following the team’s regular failures.

Furthermore, he even got dropped from the playing XI. While the veteran did play a couple of matches in the UAE leg, scores of 0 and 2 meant Warner got axed again. If this wasn’t unfortunate enough, Warner didn’t get to travel with the team in the last few matches. Apparently, it happened as the southpaw was out of the first 18. Meanwhile, Warner’s axing didn’t change SRH’s fortunes as they extended their lean patch and won just 3 of their 14 league-stage games.

David Warner didn’t feature in SRH’s gratitude post

On Saturday (October 9), SRH’s official Instagram page shared a video in which skipper Kane Williamson, head coach Trevor Bayliss and several other players and staff members thanked fans for their love and support. “Thank you #OrangeArmy. For the #Risers, the most important thing was, is and will always be the love and support they get from the #OrangeArmy. #SRH #OrangeOrNothing #StrongerTogether,” read the caption of the post.

One of the notable absentees from this clip was David Warner. Subsequently, the comment section got flooded with fans asking the same. Interestingly, Warner, who has been pretty active on social media lately, notified his fans that he wasn’t asked to feature in this video. “No I wasn’t asked to do it,” Warner replied in the comment section.

In another comment, Warner asked fans to keep supporting SRH regardless of him not being in the clip. “It’s just a captains message and staff saying thank you. We all thank you for your support doesn’t matter who in the video it’s ok,” wrote Warner.

Meanwhile, Warner, in an Instagram post bid farewell to his SRH family after getting left out of the final league-stage game. “Thank You for the memories created. To all the fans, you have been a driving force for our team always to give 100%. I can’t thank you all enough for the support shown. It’s been a great ride. My family and I are going to miss you all!! #respect #cricket #hyderabad One last effort today,” he wrote in the post.
