Bangladesh’s young pacer Shoriful Islam wants to dismiss Indian skipper Virat Kohli in the upcoming T20 World Cup, scheduled to be played from October 17 to November 14 in the United Arab Emirates and Oman.

“If I play against India, I will definitely try to take the wicket of Virat Kohli,” Shoriful was quoted as saying by BDCrictime. “I played in the U-19 World Cup. I had a different feeling before taking part in it. I’m feeling the same before the big event,” he added.

The 20-year-old pacer, who made his T20I debut against New Zealand in March 2021, has 17 wickets at 17.35 and an economy rate of 7.97.

Bangladesh team will be arriving in Oman on October 3 for the mega-event. The team will have to undergo only a single day of quarantine before being allowed to train and practice from October 5, as they are already reaching the venue from a bio-bubble.

“Bangladesh team don’t have to quarantine in the UAE. The team will start preparing for the World Cup in the Oman bio-bubble. ICC has made a rule for 6 days quarantine. However, if any team comes from bio-bubble, quarantine will not be required,” a BCB medical source confirmed. The team will fly to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on October 9 and will be able to start training from the same day onwards.

The Tigers will be up against Sri Lanka and Ireland in the warm-up fixture on October 12 and 14, respectively, before starting their Qualifiers campaign against Scotland at the Oman Cricket Academy ground on October 17. Their following fixtures are against hosts Oman on October 19, followed by Papua New Guinea on October 21.

Bangladesh have been in fine T20I form recently, having registered historic series wins over tourists Australia (4-1) and New Zealand (3-2).
