Ace spinner Ravi Ashwin has won too many hearts after he stood like an unshakeable wall with Hanuma Vihari in the 3rd Test and pulled out India from the mouth of defeat. With the England series coming up, players are preparing their best to replicate their heroics. In the same light, Ashwin has kept a crazy bet for one of the greatest modern-day Test batsmen Cheteshwar Pujara.

The senior spinner stated that he will shave half the portion of his moustache if Pujara hits one of the English spinners over his head. The England tour of India will commence on February five, where four matches will take place, and England will be walking up the field with Moeen Ali, Dom Bess, and Jack Leach as their tweakers.

The spinner recently uploaded all his chat with India’s batting coach Vikram Rathour on his YouTube channel. The duo talked about Pujara, and Rathour said Pujara is giving some reasons to step down to an off-spinner.

“Will we ever see Pujara hit an off-spinner over the top?” asked Ashwin

“Work-in-progress. I’m trying to convince him that at least once go over the top. He is still not convinced, He is giving me great reasons,” replied Rathour.

Ravi Ashwin talks about his ‘open challenge’

“If he goes over the top against Moeen Ali or any other spinner stepping down the wicket in this English series that we gonna play, I will take half my mustache out and come to play the game. This is an open challenge,” Ashwin added.

It is a known fact that Pujara has developed his image as a rock of the team as he gets settled at one end and lets the batter at the other end play his usual shots. Further in the conversation, Rathour asked Ashwin as to why he teases the class batsman for his defensive style of play.

“Because what happens is, every time an opponent like Nathan Lyon is bowling, Pujji makes it so heart throbbing for me. Every time the ball goes up in the air, I am like ‘You know what? Nobody plays like this man. You are making him look unplayable.’ And eventually, everybody will think that I’m not able to make the other batsmen bat like this,” Ashwin concluded.
