Barring India, all Asian teams have been struggling in Australia. However, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ramiz Raja seems keen on changing that. He seemed adamant on developing cricket in the country to such an extent, that the men in green manage to beat the mighty Aussies in their den.

The former Pakistan cricketer has taken the initiative of introducing drop-in pitches to help players perform better in away tours. As a matter of fact, Raja went on to praise the Azam-led side for their performances and progress of late. However, while pointing out the possible improvement with respect to fielding, he did say that more needs to be done on that aspect.

“Pakistan has to improve its fielding a lot. I have been working at the PCB for the past three months yet it feels like 30 years have passed. I now realise that holidays are a huge blessing.” said Ramiz Raja in a press conference at Karachi, as quoted by CricWick.

If any Asian country is mistreated, everyone should raise their voices against it: Ramiz Raja

The PCB chairman even stressed the fact that if any Asian country is ill-treated, he will raise his voice. He even went on to say that he did indeed raise his voice at the Asian Cricket Council after New Zealand and England decided to withdraw from their respective tours to Pakistan. Nevertheless, it is to be noted that the Kiwis will be visiting Pakistan for a series next year.

The 59-year-old then shared his vision about coaching. He was in the opinion that having specialists is the need of the hour and thus, roping in coaches for the long-term according to him, may not be viable. He also said that appointing coaches in the lower levels would be productive for Pakistan cricket.

“Long contracts with coaches might not work as one gets bound. PCB doesn’t need coaches but specialists. Coaches appointed at the lower levels will be more productive for Pakistan Cricket. Coaches would be foreign or local? PCB is yet to decide,” he said.
