Virat Kohli, ex-captain of the Indian national team and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has always been very open about how much he admires the Portuguese football sensation, Cristiano Ronaldo. Virat has been a huge fan of his work ethic and looks up to him in various aspects.

In a video shared by RCB on their official YouTube channel, Virat Kohli was seen answering a few questions while the team worked on his photoshoot. In the BTS (Behind the Scenes) video shared by the franchise, he was asked who was his favourite athlete of all time, and how would he react if he woke up like him one day.

“Cristiano Ronaldo! I would do a scan of my brain (if I woke up as Ronaldo) and see where all that mental strength comes from (smiles),” Kohli said. Other players who were a part of the BTS video were Mohammad Siraj and skipper Faf du Plessis.

While Siraj also said that he admired Ronaldo, he added that he’d like to open a hospital for those in need, so as to contribute and help the society, if he woke up like him someday. Faf said that his favourite athlete was the tennis sensation and 20 Grand Slam champion Roger Federer because of his calm and composed nature, and said that if he woke up to be Federer, he’d look at his Rolex collection.

Virat Opens up about the most memorable, and heartbreaking moments of his life

Virat Kohli also spoke about the two cricketing moments, that he was a part of, that broke his heart and keep playing in his mind to date. The first one, as he said, was the 2016 season of the Indian Premier League. Kohli was in the best form throughout the season as he ended the tournament with 973 runs under his name and recorded most runs in a single season ever.

He feels that even after all the efforts, he felt very bad when he couldn’t lead his team to the finish line by winning the final against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The second instance, as he remembers, is the 2016 T20 World Cup. He was the player of the tournament that year, but he felt heartbroken when India lost the semi-final against the West Indies and crashed out of the event.

“IPL final 2016 and that same year, 2016 World Cup semifinal at Wankhede against West Indies,” Kohli said recalling the heart-breaking moments.

Speaking of the most memorable moments of his career, he mentioned the enthralling win that his team had achieved against the Gujarat Lions in the IPL 2016 qualifier 1. “The last game that we played in 2016 against Delhi in Raipur. And then the very next qualifier, when AB played a gun knock and Iqbal was with him at the other end. The celebration after that game was the most special that I have ever experienced,” said Kohli.
