Virat Kohli has been touted to break a lot of records as he’s currently one of the best all-format batsmen for India. He is the fastest to 10,000 ODI runs and at the age of 30, he has already become an inspirational figure for many. The 30-year-old cricketer recently led India to a series victory in the ODIs against Australia and New Zealand. Thereafter, he went on a break.
Kohli is now expected to make a return for the ODI and T20I series against Australia, which gets underway on February 24. In the meantime, veteran batsman Wasim Jaffer heaped praises on the Delhi-born talent. The 40-year-old is impressed with Virat to such an extent that he was very prompt in answering that he would pay to watch Kohli ply his trade with the bat.
I think he is the best player in the world
“Definitely Virat Kohli! He is one of the best players in world cricket right now. The way he keeps raising the bar for himself and the example he sets with his fitness, batting or fielding makes him a role model for any young upcoming cricketer,” the experienced Jaffer was quoted as saying in a telephonic conversation with indiatvnews.com.
The way he keeps creating new records and leading the team with a winning mentality, he has walked the talk by winning away from home and the way the team is playing for the past couple of years, I think he is the best player in the world at the moment,” he added.
Jaffer himself has been in riveting form and even at the age of 40, he doesn’t want to throw in the towel. The experienced campaigner was a part of the victorious Vidarbha team, which won the 2018-19 edition of the Ranji Trophy. Jaffer was the second highest run-scorer of the tournament with 1037 runs from 11 matches at an average of 69.13. His top score of 206 came against Uttarakhand in Nagpur.
