With the 2010s decade ending, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the ODI, T20I and Test teams of the decade. The cricketing body had also urged the fans to vote for their favourite player to be included in the teams with 10% weightage given to them while the votes from expert panel was to make up the remaining 90% in order to select the teams.

The ICC, on Sunday, finalised the teams and announced it on its official Twitter handle. MS Dhoni has been named the captain of both ODI and T20I teams. He won the 50-over World Cup in 2011 playing a crucial knock of 91* in the final against Sri Lanka and also won the Champions Trophy two years later in England. The veteran wicket-keeper retired from international cricket earlier this year on August 15.

Apart from him, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have also been named in both the sides thanks to their batting prowess. The current Indian skipper averages more than 50 in both the limited-overs formats and has been number 1 in ODIs in the rankings for a long time. Rohit’s career, on the other hand, took turn for good after he turned opener and is the best in the role since 2013.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli has been named the skipper of the Test team of the decade. He took over India’s leadership after MS Dhoni retired in 2014 and took the team to number 1 in the format while also winning the Test series in Australia.

Jasprit Bumrah picked only in T20I team of the decade

As far as the other players are concerned, Chris Gayle and Aaron Finch were also included in the top 3 of T20I team with AB de Villiers in the middle-order. Glenn Maxwell and Kieron Pollard are the two all-rounders in the team while the bowling attack comprised of Lasith Malinga and Rashid Khan alongside Bumrah.

De Villiers and Malinga both made it to the ODI team of the decade as well. David Warner is the opener of this team while Shakib Al Hasan and Ben Stokes are the all-rounders. Mitchell Starc and Trent Boult are the other pacers of a deadly pace attack with Imran Tahir being the only pacer.

Williamson, Kohli and Smith form middle-order of Test team

Three out of the fab four batsmen, Kane Williamson, Kohli and Steve Smith form the strongest middle-order in the Test team of the decade. The trio did well consistently for their respective teams in the format and no wonder they have made it into this star-studded line-up. David Warner and Alastair Cook are the openers of the decade with Kumar Sangakkara named the wicket-keeper of the side.

Ben Stokes is the lone all-rounder of the team who will bat at seven while Ravi Ashwin is the only spinner. James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Dale Steyn form the pace attack with the red cherry.
