The International Cricket Council (ICC) has now revealed the nominees for the Player of the Month award for December 2021. And, the 3 names that made the list are Mayank Agarwal, Ajaz Patel, and Mitchell Starc.
Mayank Agarwal was in scintillating form with the willow in December last year. In the 4 Test innings that he played, the right-handed batter amassed 276 runs. Agarwal also blasted 2 half-centuries and a century in December 2021 as well.
In fact, Agarwal won the Player of the Match award in the 2nd Test match against the New Zealand side that was held in the city of Mumbai.
Mitchell Starc and Ajaz Patel are the other 2 nominees
The other 2 players who have been nominated are Australian pacer Mitchell Starc and New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel. Starc scalped 14 wickets in the 3 Ashes Test matches that he played against the England side in December 2021 and played a pivotal role in helping the kangaroos take a 3-0 lead and win the urn.
Ajaz Patel etched his name in the history books and became the first-ever New Zealand cricketer to scalp 10 wickets in a Test innings. The left-arm spinner scalped 10 wickets in the first innings of the 2nd Test against India in Mumbai, and followed that up with a four-wicket haul in the second innings and finished the match with a stunning haul of 14 scalps.
However, the Black Caps were thrashed by 372 runs in the Test match by a spirited Indian side.
