Steve Smith has been batting superbly in the ongoing Ashes series in England. He has amassed a massive 671 runs in only five innings at an unreal average of 134.20 with the lowest score being 82. His scores in the series so far have been 144, 142, 92, 211 and 82 and clearly, the England bowlers have found no way to dismiss him early in the innings.

Smith, on his return from the 12-month ban, has also duly reclaimed the number 1 position in the ICC Test Rankings for the batsmen from Virat Kohli and it seems he will rule for quite some time now. Meanwhile, even the ICC twitter handle also termed him the GOAT (Greatest of All-Time) after the fourth Ashes Test at Old Trafford where Australia retained the urn.

ICC’s way to depict Steve Smith as GOAT was unique as it posted a picture in which the former Aussie captain is being clicked with an old lady and replaced his face with Goat’s.

Here’s the tweet:

An apt apology to Lyon

ICC is always known to attract the attention of the netizens and while this tweet was already trending, they apologised Nathan Lyon hilariously. The Australian off-spinner is termed as GOAT back in Australia for his heroics in Tests and has been performing consistently in the format over the years.

The crowd also gets behind the bowler terming him GOAT. Well, ICC was aware of it and decided to apologise Lyon after calling Smith GOAT.

Meanwhile, both Lyon and Steve Smith are in action in the ongoing fifth and last Ashes Test at The Oval where England posted 294 runs in the first innings after losing the toss. Mitchell Marsh picked his first five-wicket haul in Test cricket while Lyon wasn’t needed much as there was virtually nothing for the spinners in the pitch. Steve Smith is yet to come out to bat and will be one again expected to score big to wrap up a great series for him.
