Novak Djokovic is one of the prominent Tennis players in the world and is the current Wimbledon and US Open champion. Recently, he also reached the number 1 in the rankings trumping some of the best in the business. However, his recent tweet on cricket has surprised everyone and the International Cricket Council (ICC) was quick to pounce on the opportunity to have a conversation with him.

Not many Tennis players speak much about cricket but Djokovic has a special member in his team. Imran Bashir, who is part of his team from the last 10 years as his chauffeur, is also a famous batsman for his local team. In his tweet for Imran, Novak informed that he got the award of the best batsman of the tournament and hinted the current England coach Trevor Bayliss that Imran might be making a case for a spot in the cricket team.

“Imran Bashir (my chauffeur for the #NittoATPFinals) has been part of #TeamDjokovic for 10 years! He is also a famous batsman for his local #cricket team. He received this trophy for best batsman of the year and we need to get it out there! #TrevorBayliss @englandcricket, you should keep your eye on Imran. I think he is a strong candidate for your team,” a series of tweets read.

ICC’s cheeky response

Meanwhile, the ICC is gearing for cricket’s extravaganza next year. The 50-over World Cup is all set to commence on May 30 in England and Wales and the 10-team tournament will go on until July 14. After watching Novak Djovokic talk about cricket, the official Twitter handle of ICC, cheekily invited him for a net session during the World Cup ahead of the much-awaited Wimbledon Championship.

Wimbledon, one of the grand slam events, will be played from July 1 to July 14 next year when the action of the showpeice event in cricket will be at its peak. “We know you try to avoid nets as a tennis player, but if you feel like mixing up your @Wimbledon preparation next year, come down and have a net session at the @cricketworldcup!
