The year 2021 saw a lot of cricket being played in the shortest format where even the T20 World Cup marked its comeback after five long years. Talking around the same development, ICC has come with their T20I team of 2021 which is being led by ace batter Babar Azam. It might be a shocker for Indian fans that not even a single player from the nation could grab a place in ICC’s same team.

For the opening slot, ICC named Jos Buttler along with splendid batter Mohammad Rizwan, who wreaked havoc throughout 2021. Buttler collected 589 runs in 14 T20I games at a stunning average of 65.44 whereas Rizwan averaged 73 plus in the T20Is while collecting a staggering 1326 runs under his belt. He played a key role in Pakistan’s success in the T20 WC 2021.

The third place in this team is sealed by Azam who ended up being the highest run-scorer in the T20 WC 2021 and made a mark. The fourth spot was booked by Aiden Markram whose limited-overs game attainted great heights in 2021 apart from flaunting class in Tests. The number five player on the list is Mitchell Marsh who repaid the trust placed in him by promoting him up the order in T20 WC 2021.

He picked 36 wickets in 20 games while also producing 196 runs.

No. 1 T20I bowler Tabraiz Shamsi came next while Josh Hazlewood took the ninth spot. Hazlewood picked 23 wickets in 15 games in 2021 at an average of 16.34 and economy of 6.87.
