The second day of the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier 2019 started off with the match between Papua New Guinea and Bermuda. The former absolutely trashed the latter in this low-scoring encounter. Collective efforts from the bowlers helped bowl Bermuda out for just 89 runs. Then, an unbeaten 53 by skipper Assad Vala helped the team register a 10-wicket victory.
In the next game, Jersey got to 184 in 20 overs with the help of Jonty Jenner and Nick Greenwood. Their bowlers did a great job later on and restricted Nigeria to 115/7 and thus the team managed to register a 69-run win. Ryan ten Doeschate was the star in the game between Netherlands and Namibia. On what seemed to be a tough surface, he did a fabulous job with a 40-ball 59. His efforts, later combined with that of the bowlers, were enough to help his team register a comfortable victory.
In the 8th match of the tournament, the Scotland batsmen played aggressive cricket against Kenya. Even though they lost a few wickets, their batsmen looked to play with the same intent. Despite a half-century by Irfan Karim, Kenya couldn’t get anywhere close to the target. Quite a few of their batsmen got starts but threw it away due to the pressure.
After the loss against Oman, UAE bounced back and defeated Ireland in the 9th match. Even though Paul Stirling mustered 72 runs, Rohan Mustafa was great with a four-wicket haul and helped bowl the opposition out for 125 runs. It was Mustafa who was impressive once again with the bat as well. He took the team off to a lightning start with 39 off 16 balls and the chase was completed in just 17 overs.
