India steam-roll New Zealand
The Indians continued their fantastic form in the world cup, picking up their second win courtesy of a whopping 120 run win over New Zealand. The loss witnesses New Zealand stranded to the bottom of the group and virtually out of the tournament altogether. Despite losing Ishan Kishan and Ricky Bhui early in the innings, Sarfaraz Khan (74) once again steadied the ship along with Rishabh Pant (57) taking the Indian total past 100. Mahipal Lormor (45) and Armaan Jaffer (46) too made useful contributions. Avesh Khan ripped the Kiwi top order apart, picking up the first four wickets of the innings. Finn Allen (29) and Christian Leopard (40) attempted to turn the match in their favor in vain. Aniket Parikh and Talor Scott too attempted to restore some balance, only for the New Zealand innings to fold up at 138.

India 258/8 in 50 overs (Sarfraz Khan 74, Zak Gibson 3/50)
New Zealand 138 all out in 31.3 overs (Chris Leopard 40, Avesh Khan 4/32)
Sri Lanka pick up hard fought win over Afghanistan
Sri Lanka’s 33 run win over Afghanistan was by no means an easy victory. Bowling extremely tight lines and unplayable deliveries, the Afghan bowling attack succeeded in throwing a wrench into the Sri Lankan batting lineup. Skipper Charith Asalanka top scored once again with a fighting 71 off 91 balls. He was well supported by the top order with good contributions from openers Fernando (30) and Bandara (20). The lower order failed to make any commendable contribution as the Sri Lankans folded up for 184. Shamsurrahman was the standout bowler as he ended up with figures of 3/19. Apart from Karim Jannat (40) and skipper Ihsanullah (23), the top order was blown away by the Sri Lankan attack. Waheedullah Shafaq’s run-a-ball 47 saw the Afghans with an outside chance of victory, only for spinners Silva and Mendis close the Afghan innings at 151.
Brief Scores
Sri Lanka 184 all out in 48.4 overs (Charith Asalanka 71, Shamsurrahman 3/19)
