ICC U19 CWC: Sourav Ganguly and Anjum Chopra among commentators for the tournament

The warm-up matches have already started as the U19 Cricket World Cup is set to kickoff on Saturday, January 13. The junior World Cup is the first big platform for talented cricketers to showcase their potential in front of the world. Many legends of the present generation like Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Kane Williamson among others first featured in this tournament.

The roster of names, who will be commentating in the ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup 2018 has also been announced. It is a star-studded list featuring legends of the game and some of the finest cricket broadcasters from around the globe. The former India captain and the current president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) Sourav Ganguly is an honourable mention in the category. Ganguly has over three decades of combined experience as a cricketer, commentator, and administrator.

Many renowned commentators on the list

Renowned commentator and legendary Windies cricketer Ian Bishop also will be present on the commentary panel. An extremely effective Windies fast bowler in his prime, Bishop played 43 Test matches and picked up 161 wickets. He also has 118 wickets from 84 ODIs.

The only woman to feature in the panel is former captain of India Women, Anjum Chopra. She was part of the side that made it to the final of the Women’s World Cup in 2005. She is the second-highest run-scorer for India in ODIs with 2,856 runs, behind only current captain Mithali Raj.

As for her commentating career, the 40-year-old was a part of the commentary panel for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017. The list also features the likes of Simon Doull, Alan Wilkins, Danny Morrison amongst others.
