Zimbabwe finished 11th in the 2020 U19 World Cup after winning the 11th place playoff final against Scotland by 172 runs. They posted a huge score of 354/8 and bundled out the Scottish team for just 182. In the 5th place semi-final playoff, Australia edged past Afghanistan to seal a 4-wicket win. Afghanistan posted 191/7 in their 50 overs with skipper Farhan Zakhil scoring an unbeaten 91. Australia were reduced to 123/6 in the chase before Tanveer Sangha played a crucial knock. Sangha, who took 4/41 with the ball, scored 46* off 40 balls including a six on the penultimate ball of the match.

All the statistical highlights from Australia and Zimbabwe’s victories on Sunday:

2 – Only the 2nd time Australia won a Youth ODI while chasing that went down to the last over of the match. The other such win came against England earlier in the tournament where they completed the 253-run chase on the final delivery.

3 – Tanveer Sangha became only the 3rd Australian to score 40+ runs and take 4+ wickets in the same match in U19 CWC. Moises Henriques (79* and 4/22) against Sri Lanka in the 2006 edition and Jack Edwards (73 & 4/65) against India in 2018 are the other Australians with this double.

4 – Tanveer Sangha’s 4-fer against Afghanistan was his 4th 4-wicket haul in Youth ODI cricket which makes him the first Australian to do so in U19 ODI matches.

This was also his 3rd 4-wicket haul in U19 CWC; the joint-most 4-fers for any player in the history of the tournament. Sangha is the first Australian and only the 6th player with as many as three 4-fers in U19 CWC.

4 – Mackenzie Harvey’s duck against Afghanistan is only the 4th by an Australian skipper in U19 CWC. Geoff Parker against Pakistan in 1988, Moises Henriques against the USA in 2006 and Mitchell Marsh against Ireland in 2010 are the other Australian captains with a duck in the history of this tournament.

Harvey is also the 1st Australian captain to bag a duck in Youth ODI cricket since Damien Mortimer against New Zealand in 2013 Lincoln Youth ODI.

354/8 – Zimbabwe’s total of 354/8 against Scotland is the highest total in the history of Youth ODI cricket without any individual scoring a century. Tadiwanashe Marumani’s 90 was the highest individual score in Zimbabwe’s innings. The previous highest Youth ODI total without a century was Pakistan’s 341/8 against South Africa last year where the individual score was 89 by skipper Rohail Nazir.

In fact, this was the first-ever 300+ total for Zimbabwe in Youth ODI cricket. Their previous highest total in this format was 291/7 against Kenya in the 2002 U19 CWC.
