Both India and Bangladesh are unbeaten in the ongoing U19 World Cup in South Africa. Quite deservingly, both sides would now be locking horns in the Final of the mega event at the Senwes Park in Potchefstroom. The Junior Tigers brushed off Scotland and Zimbabwe without dropping any sweat. In their last group game, Pakistan put them under pressure, but rain came to their rescue.

After topping the group, Akbar Ali and Co beat South Africa and New Zealand, and have made their maiden World Cup final. Priyam Garg’s India, on the other hand, won three out of three in Group A with a net run rate of +3.598. The Boys in Blue didn’t have much difficulty in getting past New Zealand and Pakistan in the knock-out stage. However, Bangladesh won’t be an easy proposition.

Pitch Report

The pitch in Potchefstroom hasn’t been a belter by any stretch of the imagination. The average score in the first innings has been 175 in the last three games. But in all those games, the team, batting second came out trumps without much fuss. Both India and Bangladesh have chased down targets in their semis, pretty comprehensively and their tactic shouldn’t change even in the Grand Finale.

Weather Report

The weather on Sunday’s game isn’t promising. The conditions will mostly be cloudy and there won’t be any sun during the course of the match. There are chances of heavy rain with the percentage in between 34 and 51. The temperature will be around the 21 degrees Celsius mark.

Team Combination

India U19

The Indian batting has mostly been about Yashasvi Jaiswal and Divyansh Saxena. Like Joy, even Jaiswal notched a century in the semi-final and has 312 runs in five matches at an average of 156. Saxena has been an appropriate foil for him, having scored 148 runs with a couple of half-centuries.

The rest of the batting hasn’t had much to do due to the performance of the openers. The likes of Jurel, Veer and Garg are more than capable of scoring the runs. In bowling, Kartik Tyagi and Ravi Bishnoi have 11 and 13 wickets respectively. Akash and Sushant have been reasonable as well.

Probable XI

Yashasvi Jaiswal, Divyansh Saxena, Tilak Varma, Priyam Garg (C), Dhruv Jurel (WK), Siddhesh Veer, Atharva Ankolekar, Ravi Bishnoi, Sushant Mishra, Kartik Tyagi, Akash Singh.

Bangladesh

For the Tigers, Mahmudul Hasan Joy is fresh from a century and is also their leading run-scorer with 176 runs at an average of 58.66. Tanzid Hasan Tamim has 149 runs with a top score of 80. Towhid Hridoy has chipped in with useful knocks, but he is capable of scoring big in the massive encounter.

Shahadat Hossain is also in good rhythm with 130 runs. With the ball, Rakibul Hasan has been a revelation as he has 11 wickets at an economy of 3.10. The tweaker also has a hat-trick to his name with a five-wicket-haul. Shoriful, Shamim and Sakib have lent the left-arm spinner good support.

Probable XI

Parvez Hossain Emon, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Towhid Hridoy, Shahadat Hossain, Akbar Ali (C & WK), Shamim Hossain, Rakibul Hasan, Shoriful Islam, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Hasan Murad
