Match Details:

The 2nd semi-final of the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will be played between South Africa and Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney.

The match starts at 07:00 PM local time (08:00 AM GMT) (1:30 PM IST). This match will be live on Star Sports 2 and Star Sports 2 HD. Live Streaming will be available on Hotstar.

Preview for Dream11 Fantasy

The hosts Australia will face the group B toppers South Africa in the second semi-final of the Women’s T20 World Cup on Thursday. The Meg Lanning-led side will be more nervous in the lead up to the clash due to the rain forecast on the match day. There is a possibility of both the semi-finals getting washed out and in that case, Australia who came second in group A will get knocked out.

Having said that, if the match eventually happens, both the sides will be keen on putting their best foot forward. Australia have lost their ace all-rounder Ellyse Perry ahead of the crucial game and it remains to be seen who comes in the XI for her. South Africa, on the other hand, will be looking to continue what they have been doing so far in the tournament and stay unbeaten.

Weather Report

Rain, Rain and only rain is in the forecast in Sydney on Thursday. The showers are expected from 9 AM to 12 PM local time. And then the heavens are likely to open up at 3 PM only and it might stay the same way for the rest of the day. Sydney has also taken a lot of rain in the last couple of days which makes the game very tough to happen. In case of a washout, South Africa will go through to the final.

Pitch Report

The surface at the SCG generally aids the spinners and with this being the second match of the day, the pitch will surely slow down considerably. Only two Women’s T20Is have been played at the venue and no recent matches have been played here in Women’s T20I format. Also, with the pitch under the covers all the time, the fast bowlers might find some swing.

Injury & Availability News

Ellyse Perry has been ruled out of the World Cup. No replacement has been named for her.

Sophie Molineux’s fitness is likely to be assessed ahead of the match. If fit, she will definitely play this match. But there is no news as of now.

Top Picks

Beth Mooney and Alyssa Healy are in top form for Australia in this tournament with 153 and 143 runs to their name respectively. With no Perry in the line-up, Lanning might just step up in the need of the hour for her team. If the match is shortened, Gardner will also become crucial as she can score quick runs. With the ball, Wareham will be important as she is coming off a three-wicket haul against New Zealand. Schutt (7 wickets) bowls mostly at death and has the ability to pick wickets while Jonassen (6 wickets) is another top bowler.

For South Africa, Lizelle Lee is coming off a century against Thailand and will be high on confidence while Dane van Niekerk (51 runs and 4 wickets) opens the innings apart from bowling her quota of four overs. She is a captain material in Dream11 Fantasy as well. Sune Luus is also a similar kind of a player while Shabnim Ismail (5 wickets) is expected to play a crucial role for her team.
