Preview for Dream11 Fantasy

The caravan of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup rolls on and the 4th match will see former champions and last editions runners-up England lock horns with South Africa Women at the W.A.C.A in Perth. The 2018 runners-up- England- haven’t had the best of times ever since they have landed in Australia.

The inability of the top-order paved way for a pre-final exit from the T20I tri-series against Australia and India and to make matters worse, they were shellacked by the Sri Lankans by ten wickets in the warm-up fixture.

South Africa Women, on the other, have had an equally dismal time in T20I cricket off-late. The Dan Van Nierkirk-led Proteas come into this tournament on the back of successive series defeats against India [1-4] and New Zealand [1-2], and while they did beat Sri Lanka by 41 runs in their first warm-up fixture, the Proteas Women were beaten comprehensively by five wickets in the following fixture after they failed to defend their total of 6-147 against the defending champions.

With only two teams set to qualify for the semi-finals, both sides will be looking to get their tournament off a winning note and gain an early lead in the group.

Top Picks

England Women

One of the major reasons behind the struggles of England in the tri-series was their misfiring top-order. The likes of Dani Wyatt, Amy Jones struggled to give good starts to their side and it was only skipper Heather Knight (176 runs at 44) who spearheaded the misfiring unit.

That said, the likes of Dani Wyatt [468 runs at 29.25], Amy Jones [398 runs at 24.87] and Tammy Beaumont [364 runs at 33.09] have been the cornerstone of their batting unit since the start of January 2019 and England will hope that the trio regain their touch in the World Cup.

As far as bowling is concerned, Katherine Brunt [20 wickets at 17.45], Sophie Ecclestone [18 wickets at 13.27] and Anya Shrubsole [12 wickets at 24] will be key.

South Africa Women

As far as the Proteas are concerned, the onus will once again be on the likes of Lizelle Lee [380 runs at 31.66], skipper Dan van Niekirk [219 runs at 43.80], Mignon du Preez [213 runs at 19] and Laura Wolvaardt [122 runs at 17] to spearhead the batting unit.

As far as bowling is concerned, Marizanne Kapp and Sune Luus grabbed a four-wicket-haul in the warm-up game. They, along with Shabnim Ismail [16 wickets at 18] will be the key.

Expert Advice

England’s top-order has been going through a rough patch but one can’t discount the likes of Danielle Wyatt, Amy Jones, who have racked up 468 and 398 runs respectively since January 2019. Wyatt scored 42 in the warm-up game against New Zealand and picking her as captain or vice-captain could be worth a punt. One can also opt for the likes of Lizelle Lee and Dan van Niekerk, who have been in brilliant form coming into the tournament.

Probable Winners:

England Women are expected to come out as the winners.
