ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020, Day 9 Round Up – Statistical Highlights

South Africa Women and England Women confirmed their spots in the semi-finals from Group B with their 3rd victory of the tournament. South Africa cruised to their 3rd straight win of the tournament after successfully defending their total of 136/6. Laura Wolvaardt’s unbeaten 36-ball 53 helped South Africa to recover from early wickets.

Natalie Sciver’s 57 helped England reach 143/5 and register a 46-run win by bundling out West Indies Women to 97. Skipper Stafanie Taylor got injured during the chase in what was a must-win match for the West Indies.

All the statistical highlights from convincing wins of South Africa and England in Group B on Sunday:

2 – Only the 2nd time West Indies failed to qualify for the semi-finals of the Women’s T20 World Cup. They were knocked out in the first round in the inaugural 2009 edition but made it to top four in the following five editions.

3 – Natalie Sciver became only the 2nd player with three 50+ scores in an edition of Women’s T20 World Cup. Meg Lanning also scored three fifties during the 2016 edition of the tournament. Sciver is also the first player from England with three 50+ scores in an edition of T20 CWC across Men’s and Women’s cricket.

16y 61d – Syeda Aroob Shah, at the age of 16 years and 61 days, is now the youngest Pakistan player to feature in any World Cup match (Men/Women). The previous youngest was Asma Farzand, at the age of 16 years and 343 days, during the 1997 Women’s ODI World Cup. No other player before turning 17 had featured in a T20 CWC match for Pakistan across Men’s and Women’s editions.

50 – Sophie Ecclestone became the 8th player to bag 50 wickets for England in Women’s T20I cricket with the 3-fer against West Indies. Ecclestone, at the age of 20 years and 300 days, is also the youngest player to 50 T20I wickets in Women’s cricket.

She broke the record held by Stafanie Taylor at the age of 22 years and 135 days. Across Men’s and Women’s cricket, only Rashid Khan (19y 256d) was younger than Ecclestone at the time of reaching 50 T20I wickets.

80 – Danielle Wyatt now has been part of 80 victories in the T20I format; the most by any player across Men’s and Women’s cricket. Wyatt went past Ellyse Perry who has been involved in 79 T20I wins.

100 – Javeria Khan became only the 4th Pakistan player to feature in 100 matches in Women’s T20I Cricket. Bismah Maroof (108), Sana Mir (106) and Nida Dar (101) are the other three players with 100 T20I appearances for Pakistan Women. Nida completed the milestone in the previous match against England.

202 – Natalie Sciver has scored 202 runs across 4 innings in this tournament thus far. These are now the most runs in a single edition of Women’s T20 World Cup for England. Charlotte Edwards also scored 202 runs across 5 innings during the 2016 edition of the tournament.
