Australia has started their 2019 World Cup campaign in England and Wales on a stupendous note. First, they rolled over Afghanistan by seven wickets at the County Ground in Bristol. Thereafter, the team, captained by Aaron Finch, edged past the Jason Holder-captained Windies at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham by 15 runs. The Aussies are currently placed second on the points table below New Zealand.

The Men in Yellow are next set to play Virat Kohli’s India on Sunday, June 9, at the Kennington Oval in London. Back in March, the Aussies got the better of the Indians in a five-match ODI series after losing the first two matches. They are on a 10-match winning streak in the 50-overs format and are currently preparing for the game. Meanwhile, a shambolic incident took place prior to the all-important contest.

Training session turning nightmare for a net bowler

An Australia net bowler got hit on the head by a shot from David Warner as per reports in the Herald Sun. The bowler suffered a concussion and had to be taken off the park on a stretcher. Thereafter, he was being treated by the physiotherapists for a significant amount of time. The training session, where the horrific occurring took place, was ceased on an immediate basis.

There’s no update on the condition of the bowler and the whole of the cricketing fraternity would be hoping for his recovery at the earliest. It wouldn’t be a surprise if the incident gave the Australian players a flashback of the occurring when their most beloved Phillip Hughes passed away after copping a blow on the helmet off Seat Abbott during a first-class match in the country.

As far as Warner is concerned, he was adjudged the Player of the Match for his unbeaten 89 versus the Afghans. It was his first international match following his return in Australian colors. However, in the second match versus the Caribbean team, he could only manage three runs off eight balls after which Sheldon Cottrell nipped him out. For the time being, the team management would be hoping for positive news surrounding the net bowler.
