ICC World Cup 2019: BCB unveils Bangladesh jersey for the mega event

The excitement surrounding the upcoming World Cup in England and Wales is on an escalation. The boards of the 10 participating teams recently put forth their provisional squads for the mega event, scheduled to get underway on May 30. While the likes of India and England are being considered as the favourites, teams like Bangladesh are being deemed as the dark horses.

The Tigers made their World Cup debut way back in 1999 and rolled over Pakistan to get their first victory. Thereafter, in 2003, the team strained to find its feet. However, in 2007 when the tournament took place in the West Indies, they turned over India and South Africa. In 2011, the nation was one of the co-hosts and in the 50-overs extravaganza, they also defeated England.

Bangladesh have been preparing hard and the team will be captained by Mashrafe Mortaza, who only leads them in the ODI format. Prior to the World Cup, the Tigers will be playing a triangular ODI series in Ireland, involving the hosts and the Windies. For the same, as many 19 players have been selected. Taskin Ahmed, Naeem Hasan, Farhad Reza and Yasir Ali are the ones, who aren’t in the WC squad.

Two Bangladesh jerseys

In the World Cup, Bangladesh will be playing their first match against the mighty South Africans on Sunday, June 2 at the Kennington Oval in London. In terms of experience, the Tigers players have played the most number of matches in the World Cup. In the meantime, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has unveiled the jersey for the most-awaited tournament.

Two outfits have been put forth. One has shades of green and white with the BCB logo on the left and the WC logo on the right. The other jersey has a combination of red and white with the BCB and WC emblem placed in the same position. As far as performances are concerned, one can’t afford to take Bangladesh lightly by any stretch of the imagination.
