Since his century in Australia at the start of the year, Rohit Sharma failed to make his starts count even during the IPL. Rohit shattered all the talks of his form with an unbeaten hundred against South Africa to star in India’s 6-wicket win. The opener made most of the early dropped chance on a pitch that kept seaming throughout the game. He finished with 122* off 144 deliveries with 13 fours and two sixes as India chased down the target of 228 with 15 balls to spare.

3 – This century is Rohit Sharma’s 3rd hundred in ODI format in England; the joint-most ODI tons by any Indian in England. Sachin Tendulkar and Shikhar Dhawan also scored three ODI hundreds in England. Overall, only Viv Richards (4) scored more ODI centuries in England than Rohit among visiting players.


8 – Number of unbeaten centuries Rohit has scored in ODI chases; the joint 2nd most by any player. Virat Kohli leads the list with 11 unbeaten hundreds while chasing. Sachin Tendulkar is tied with Rohit as he also remained unbeaten eight times while scoring a hundred in an ODI chase.


9 – Rohit Sharma now has scored nine centuries in successful chases in ODI cricket; the joint 3rd most by any player. Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar have scored 21 and 14 tons in successful ODI chases while no other player has even hit ten. Saeed Anwar, Sanath Jayasuriya and Tillakaratne Dilshan also have nine hundreds in successful chases in this format.


23 – Number of centuries for Rohit in ODI cricket; the 3rd most by an Indian in this format. Only Sachin Tendulkar (49) and Virat Kohli (41) scored more ODI tons than Rohit thus far. The current Indian vice-captain went past Sourav Ganguly’s 22 ODI hundreds.


122* – Rohit’s unbeaten 122 in this game is the 2nd highest individual score by an Indian in a World Cup chase. Sachin Tendulkar’s unbeaten 127 against Kenya in the 1996 World Cup is the highest score by an Indian in a CWC chase.


201 – Innings Rohit Sharma has taken to score his 23rd century in ODI cricket; the 4th fewest by any player. Only Hashim Amla (132), Virat Kohli (157) and AB de Villiers (187) took fewer innings than Rohit to score their 23rd ODI hundred.


354 – Rohit now has smashed 354 sixes in International cricket; the joint 4th most by any player. He went past Sanath Jayasuriya’s tally of 352 maximums and is tied with his teammate MS Dhoni (354).
