Pakistan was beaten black and blue by the Windies at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham. Thereafter, at the same venue, Sarfaraz Ahmed & Co. rolled over tournament favourites England to stamp their authority. Most of the things went right for the Men in Green owing to which they were able to open their account in the mega event. They are next scheduled to play Sri Lanka on Friday at the County Ground in Bristol.

The Lankans, on the contrary, didn’t make a great start as New Zealand defeated them by 10 wickets in Cardiff. Nonetheless, the Dimuth Karunaratne-led unit made a comeback in the tournament with a 34-run victory against Afghanistan. The contest was marred by rain and the Lankans got home on the basis of the DLS Method. Pakistan is expected to pose them a greater threat to the Islanders.

Here is the guide to select the Captain and vice-captain for Dream11 Fantasy:

Captain Suggestions:

Babar Azam

Over the last few months, there have been very few instances when Babar Azam has tasted failures. He got out after 22 in the opening match, but made amends, scoring 63 last time. However, he would’ve been disappointed as he missed out on a chance of getting a century on a decent batting strip in Nottingham. In the next match, he’ll be keen to score big and take his team to its second victory.

Kusal Mendis

The 24-year-old Kusal Mendis had terrible outings in the two games Lanka played thus far. After bagging a golden duck in the first game, he got out after scoring only a couple against the Afghans. The Pakistan bowling has pace and venom, and Mendis won’t have it easy by any stretch of the imagination. The Lankans would need their premier middle-order batsman to put up his socks at the earliest.

Mohammad Hafeez

Hafeez didn’t have a pleasant time in the run-up to the World Cup with one half-century, but a number of failures. To his dismay, he got out cheaply to the Windies pacers. Nevertheless, he came into his own in the last match and churned out a match-winning 84. The knock would give him a lot of confidence and he wouldn’t wish to lose the momentum. He’ll also want to inflict damage with the ball in hand.

Vice-captain suggestions

Kusal Perera

The swashbuckling Kusal Perera threw his wicket away after scoring 29 versus the Black Caps. But he didn’t make the mistake in the next games as he notched a well-compiled 78 off 81 balls. The southpaw started in an attacking way and then put his head down when wickets at the other end started going down. The management’s decision to send him as the opener also worked wonders.

Fakhar Zaman

The left-handed Zaman has looked in good touch in this World Cup, having scored 22 and 36. Unfortunately, he couldn’t convert the starts despite showing a lot of promise. The Lankan bowling attack isn’t the most lethal and Zaman will be desperate to show why he’s regarded as one of the most talented batsmen. He’ll be a key player if Pakistan is to brush aside Sri Lanka on Friday.

Dimuth Karunaratne

The left-handed batsman has shown maturity ever since he took over Sri Lanka’s captaincy in the ODI format. He started with his World Cup campaign with an unbeaten half-century, though it couldn’t lead his team to a victory. Even versus the Afghans, he got 30 before getting holed out to the fielder in the deep in a bid to accelerate. Lanka will want another good score from his bat.
