The 14th match of World Cup 2019 will see a high-voltage clash between defending champions Australia and hot-favourites India. Both the teams have made a solid start to their World Cup campaigns. While Australia has won both of their opening games so far, India started their competition with a thumping win over South Africa. With both the teams being in good form at the moment, one can expect a good clash at the Oval, London.

In their last outing, Australia overcame a strong challenge from the West Indies. The five-time world champions recovered from a disastrous start to beat the two-time champions by 2 wickets. West Indies’ in-form pacers had Australia reeling at 38-4 and later 79-5. However, Steve Smith held firm from one end and scored a composed 73 to bail his side out of trouble. Nathan Coulter-Nile then provided the finishing touches by smashing a record 92 from just 60 deliveries to guide his side to a challenging 288. In reply, West Indies ended up on 273 for 9 despite Shai Hope and Jason Holder scoring fifties. Mitchell Starc starred with the ball by picking up 5 for 46.

India, on the other hand, beat South Africa by six wickets to open their campaign. It was a thoroughly dominating performance from the Men in Blue in Southampton. On a tough pitch, Rohit Sharma scored an unbeaten century to guide the two-time champions to an impressive victory after the bowlers restricted the Proteas for 227 for 9.

Australia, meanwhile, will be taking confidence from their win over India in the last ODI series between the two sides. The team from Down Under had won the series 3-2 despite losing the first two games. India, on the other hand, will be confident of getting the better of the Aussies because of their displays in recent times.
