South Africa is currently in dire straits in the ongoing World Cup. The team has lost three games in succession against England, Bangladesh, and India respectively, and is languishing at the ninth position of the points table. A few of their players are already suffering from injuries and the Proteas just don’t seem to find a way of halting their poor run of form. Their next game is against the Windies on June 10.

The game will be played at the Rose Bowl in Southampton, the very venue where India defeated them. The Caribbean side, on the other hand, will also be coming into the match on the backs of a 15-run defeat versus Australia in Nottingham. Windies and the Proteas have faced six times in the World Cup and the latter won four times. The former’s last victory came in the 2003 edition of the mega event.

Here is the guide to select the Captain and Vice-Captain for Dream11 Fantasy:

Captain Suggestions:

Faf du Plessis

The 34-year-old has found it difficult from the captaincy point of view. And, he has had his travails in batting as well. In his last two matches, he got out to the spinners- Mehidy Hasan and Yuzvendra Chahal. Against India, he tried to put his head down for 38, but couldn’t carry on. The Windies bowling attack will pose a threat to him and the Proteas captain will have a task on his hands.

Hashim Amla

Amla has played a couple of games and hasn’t got going by any means. He had a torrid start after being hit on the head by Jofra Archer. He came to bat lower down the order but got out. Even versus India, he couldn’t handle the pace and bounce of Jasprit Bumrah. The likes of Oshane Thomas and Sheldon Cottrell are likely to pepper him with bouncers and Amla needs to weather the storm.

Chris Gayle

The 39-year-old Chris Gayle made a thunderous start courtesy of a half-century against Pakistan. However, Mitchell Starc exposed his shortcoming against raw pace last time. Gayle used the DRS to overturn a couple of decisions, but Starc eventually nipped him out. The Jamaican needs to be careful, especially while facing Kagiso Rabada, who has the potential to get early wickets.

Vice-Captain suggestions

Quinton de Kock

De Kock has been in fine form this year and started the World Cup with a 68 versus England, though his team lost. Thereafter, he had a couple of indifferent outings, having gotten out cheaply. The southpaw also looked a tad vulnerable, playing the moving ball and fell prey to Jasprit Bumrah at the same venue. The 26-year-old will be keen to get back his rhythm at the earliest.

Shai Hope

Shai Hope has scored a truckload of runs over the last few matches in the ODI format and is a fulcrum of the Windies batting lineup. After failing against Pakistan, he got a well-compiled fifty in the next match. Meanwhile, the 25-year-old needs to accelerate a wee bit when the required rate goes up. The Windies will be hoping for the youngster to play another knock of substance.

Nicholas Pooran

Pooran is someone, who doesn’t have any fear while unleashing his range of strokes. After an unbeaten 34 versus Pakistan, the left-hander notched 40 against the Aussies. In the second game, Pooran had the chance of taking his team home but perished to the leg-spin of Adam Zampa. The Trinidadian has loads of potential and he can be a threat to the South Africans.
