Bangladesh got better of South Africa in their first game but went down to New Zealand and England in the following matches. Shakib Al Hasan’s form with the bat has been a big positive for the Mashrafe Mortaza-led team as the all-rounder scored 60+ in all the three matches in the tournament. They will be up against Sri Lanka on Tuesday in Bristol. The Lankans began with a record defeat to New Zealand but bounced backed against Afghanistan with a 34-run win. They had to share points with Pakistan as the game ended without a result.

All the key stats and numbers ahead of the game between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka:

1 – Bangladesh played only once at the County Ground in Bristol – against England in an ODI in 2010. They defeated the hosts by five runs while defending their target of 236. Mashrafe Mortaza won the player of the match award in that game which was only his 2nd ODI as Bangladesh captain.

3-3 – Bangladesh and Sri Lanka won three matches apiece in their seven ODI meetings since 2017. Until 2016, Bangladesh won only four of their 38 matches against Sri Lanka in ODI cricket.

4 – Shakib Al Hasan has scored a fifty in each of his previous four ODI innings. Shakib never scored more than two fifties in a succession in his ODI career. The all-rounder has scored five fifties in his previous six innings in ODI cricket.

If Shakib scores another fifty in the next innings, he will be the 2nd player from Bangladesh to score five successive ODI fifties. Tamim Iqbal achieved this feat in 2012 which included four in four during the Asia Cup.

9 – Kusal Mendis has bagged nine ducks in ODI cricket since the 2017 Champions Trophy; four more than any other player. Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarabani has been dismissed for a duck on five instances in this span; the only other player with 5+ ODI ducks in this period.

Since the CT 2017, Mendis has scored 722 runs from 36 innings at an average of 20.62 with five fifties in ODIs. Till the end of the tournament, he had scored 972 runs at 37.38 average having scored a century and ten fifties.

24.5 – Tamim Iqbal has a batting average of 24.5 in ODIs in 2019; his lowest in a calendar year since the 21.66 in 2007. Tamim scored 245 runs in ten ODI innings this year with two half-centuries. His ODI average in previous four calendar years read 45 and more – 46.37 in 2015, 45.22 in 2016, 64.60 in 2017, 85.50 in 2018.

11990 – Angelo Mathews needs ten more runs to become the 8th player to score 12000 and more runs across all formats for Sri Lanka in Internationals. Mathews bagged ducks in both the games they played in this tournament.
