After a record run-chase, Bangladesh will face Australia in another crucial game as they fight to keep their hopes alive for a semi-final spot. With five points in five matches, Bangladesh needs at least three wins in their remaining four matches. A victory against Australia will boost their confidence and open the points table up. The defending champions, on the other hand, are cruising through at the moment with four wins from five matches played.

All the major stats and numbers that matter ahead of Bangladesh’s face-off versus Australia:

1 – Only once have Bangladesh defeated Australia in an ODI – that by 5 wickets during the 2005 Cardiff ODI. Australia won 18 of the 20 meetings while the 2017 CT game ended without a result as the Australian chase didn’t last the minimum requirement of 20 overs.

2 – Australia and Bangladesh faced off twice in the World Cup – in 1999 and in 2007. Australia were victorious on both instances as they chased down the target while the 2015 edition game was abandoned.

2 – Shaun Marsh (in 2008) and Steve Smith (in 2011) are the only current Australian players to have featured in a completed ODI against Bangladesh. As many as six others in the current squad were part of the CT 2017 game that ended in a washout.

5Shakib Al Hasan has scored at least fifty runs in each of his last five ODI innings; the joint-longest such streak for any Bangladesh player in ODI cricket. If Shakib scores a fifty in his next ODI innings, he will become the first Bangladesh player with six consecutive ODI fifties. Tamim Iqbal also put up five consecutive ODI fifties in 2012.

28 – Pat Cummins is the leading wicket-taker in ODIs in 2019 with 28 wickets from 11 matches. He picked up at least one wicket in each of his ten ODIs and has an average of 16.07 with the ball in 2019.

35Mitchell Starc has claimed 35 wickets across 13 matches he has played in the World Cup; the joint 2nd most by any Australian in the CWC. Starc has two 4-fers and two 5-wicket hauls; he averages 13.51.

59.68 – Shakib has a batting average of 59.68 in ODI cricket while batting at No.3. He scored 955 runs in 19 innings at this position with help of two hundreds and eight half-centuries. Only MS Dhoni (993 @ 82.75) and Virat Kohli (8920 @ 63.26) have scored more ODI runs at No.3 than Shakib at a higher average.

977 – Aaron Finch needs 23 more runs to become the first player to aggregate 1000 ODI runs in 2019. The Australian skipper scored 977 runs in 18 innings this year with three centuries and five fifties.
