Pakistan have somehow failed to get past India in the 50-over World Cup. They were jubilant after beating their arch-rivals in the final of the Champions Trophy 2017 but then put up a shambolic performance in the Asia Cup against them. In the six attempts so far in the World Cup, the Men in Green have not been able to beat India and the record stays the same in the T20 World Cup as well.

India and Pakistan are set to renew their rivalry in the mega event later this year on June 16 at the Old Trafford. The much-awaited game is already sold out and the anticipation of a mouth-watering clash has kept the fans on toes already. But the same question stands in front of Pakistan. Will they be able to beat India for the first time in the World Cup? Even during the triumph in 1992 World Cup, the Imran Khan-led side had lost to the Men in Blue.

But the former Pakistan cricketer Moin Khan feels that the current team has the potential to get the better of the Indian side in the upcoming event.

This side has the depth and variety

Moin Khan feels that the Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has tuned in well with the team now and has the ability to get the best out of the talented team. “This present team is very capable of recording a first win over India in a World Cup because there is talent, there is depth and variety and Sarfaraz Ahmed has now gelled the squad well,” he said while speaking to GTV News Channel on Tuesday.

The 47-year-old highlighted the way the likes of Mohammad Amir and Hasan Ali among other bowlers skittled India in the Champions Trophy final and felt that the same might repeat again at the Old Trafford. “I say this because our boys beat them [India] in the Champions Trophy two years back and I just feel that in English conditions in June we have better bowlers,” Moin added.

He also went on to say that the weather in England will play its part during the World Cup and the conditions will favour Pakistan heavily. “Pakistan has been one team which has done well in England in the last many years and in May-June the weather can be unpredictable and there is moisture in the pitches,” Moin Khan signed off on a confident note.
