Neeraj Pandey, director of the MS Dhoni’s upcoming biopic – MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, has rubbished the rumors claiming that Dhoni was paid a whopping sum of 80 crores for the rights to make a movie based on his life.
There were strong reports that Dhoni was paid the astronomical sum by the producers, Fox Star Studios, but contrary to reports, Pandey has revealed that nothing of that sort happened.
Neeraj rubbished all such claims, reports TOI.com. The portal reported, “The very idea of paying a cricketer such astronomical money strains credulity. The director was quoted as saying that no studio would be willing to cough up so much money just for rights to a cricketer’s life story.”
The promotional activities of the much-awaited movie have already begun. In a recent video released by producers Fox Stars, MS Dhoni and Sushant Singh Rajput were seen engaging in a very light hearted manner. It shows MS Dhoni looking very curious about the story of the video while lead actor Sushant keeps on adding oil to his curiosity.
The movie has created a lot of interest among fans and the makers have already begun earning from it. According to news reports, the biopic already garnered 45 crores from satellite rights and 15 crores through brands promotions in the movie.
The trailer was an instant success on YouTube with 6 million-plus views in less than 24 hours. The producers of the movie have dubbed the film in different languages including Telugu and Tamil.
The film is set to hit the theaters on September 30.
