Legendary batsman and commentator Sunil Gavaskar feels that if Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s demonetization move benefits the nation then he has qualms with it. The ‘Little Master’ spoke recently while he was in Pune as the brand ambassador of Pune-based builder who has announced residential projects for senior citizens in Hayward, a city in California.

“I am not an economist who will know what will be the effect but yes if most of the people are happy with this move then I am also happy,” Gavaskar said.

Further, Gavaskar said that he is from during those times of cricket wherein he used to take “only singles and twos…

“We are not of 20-20’s…so this has not affected players like me, the way this demonetization has happened to other players.”

Indian skipper Virat Kohli also gave his opinion regarding the government’s decision to demonise old higher denominations. Kohli, who was speaking at the press conference ahead of the second Test against England in the coastal city of Vishakapatnam, termed this decision as the ‘greatest move in history of Indian politics.’

The second India v England Test match starting Thursday in Visakhapatnam will be a little bit special for one player – Virat Kohli who will play his 50th Test. Kohli will be the 28th player from India to play in 50 or more Tests while the batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar tops the list for the country and in the world, with 200 Test appearances.
