Indian men’s hockey team goalkeeper PR Sreejesh received enormous love and respect from the Indian sports fans after showing his class at Tokyo 2020. He flaunted an outstanding performance against Germany to grab the bronze medal for India in the showpiece event. In the same light, Indian pacer S. Sreesanth who also belongs from the same state of India added that the footballer has made his name fly high in an indirect way as they share the same name (partly).

Indian cricketer Sreesanth, who is incidentally also from Kochi, posted an emotional update on Facebook, which seemed to be felt by several sports fans in and around Kerala. He uploaded a picture of himself with a jersey on, but his name on the jersey was fading away.

On the Facebook post, he wrote, “My name is Fading away on t shirts print .but not in mind  and body esp my soul …wants me to keep going ..need all ur blessings nd wishes ..as alwys ..miles to go before I hang my boots..I’m never gonna give up.”

According to a report on Onmanorama, Sreesanth said, “I am grateful to Sreejesh for bringing my name back. The saves which he made in the Bronze medal match were very motivating.” Sreejesh is the goalkeeper of the Indian hockey men’s team and played an outstanding hand in the match against Germany which got his team the Bronze medal. The achievement is huge because this was the first time in 41 years that the Indian team had won a medal at the Olympics.

Sreesanth hints at the possibility of playing in overseas T20 leagues

Sreesanth further said that he had messaged Sreejesh and was waiting for a response from him. He also admitted that he clearly knows that Sreejesh might be busy given the number of messages he is getting right now. Sreesanth also expressed that if given a chance he would like to have a chat with the goalkeeper.

He went on to say that he expects that Sreejesh, who is 35 right now, maintains his shape so that he can eye the gold medal in the next Olympics, which is three years away. The fast-bowler himself is 38 and has maintained his fitness with aspirations of making a comeback for the Indian team. Earlier this year, he was seen in action for Kerala. The Kerala pacer has hinted that he might retire from top-level cricket to go on and play in club cricket elsewhere.
