Team Zimbabwe recently seized a historic win over Sri Lanka in ODI series during their tour to the island nation. In the one off Test that followed, team Zimbabwe were in firm command of the game for the major part of the match. They were unlucky to have missed the trick towards the final stages. However, their impressive showing clearly indicated that they are not moving downhill, as many had earlier speculated.

The hopes of the cricket fans seems to have revived after this impressive tour. Also, with the recent developments and actions taken by the Zimbabwe Cricket board, things seem to be heading back on track for the men in red. Considering the bigger picture, the ODI series win in Sri Lanka could well see the Zimbabwean team get back some of their star players.

Brendan Taylor, the former skipper, could well be back in international cricket. Also, pacer Kyle Jarvis can stage a comeback. Both players had quit international cricket and signed the Kolpak deal in a bid to attain financial stability. Now, with the ZC making good gains and with the ICC pondering over selecting Zimbabwe as the hosts for the ICC World Cup 2019 Qualifiers, these two gentlemen are reportedly are in talks with the board for a comeback.

Problems galore

The board is keen on getting back the big players for the mega event. However, a problem still persists. The cricket board offers annual contracts. Hence, if the two players make a comeback, and later fail to get a contract again, they will be hit by financial instability.

Also, once they leave the Kolpak deal, they will not be able to resign it. Hence, the board will have to do something in order to assure the two players on the financial grounds. In addition to this, another problem that comes into the picture is that the board is definitely not very stable enough to afford both players at the moment.

Bright news ahead?

Talking about the two players, Kyle Jarvis had signed the Kolpal deal with Lancashire in the year 2013. Brendan Taylor had signed the contract with Nottinghamshire after the conclusion of the ICC World Cup 2015. Meanwhile, Hampshire all-rounder Sean Ervine is also said to be in talks with the cricket board about the same.

The players are likely to head back to Zimbabwe considering the improved functioning of the board. The board has appointed Tatenda Taibu and Heath Streak in key roles in team management. Also, new chairman Tavengwa Mukuhlani seems to be a promising administrator.
