Imran Tahir has been among the most effective leg-spinners doing the rounds in world cricket. The tweaker is nearing the age of 39, however, he hasn’t run out of steam by any stretch of the imagination. He has successfully plied his trade for South Africa in international cricket and has also tasted success in T20 leagues across the globe.

He is currently representing the Shoaib Malik-led Multan Sultans team in the Pakistan Super League. The Lahore-born leggie recently snapped a stupendous hat-trick and led his team to their third victory of the season against Quetta Gladiators. He dismissed Hasan Khan, John Hastings and Rahat Ali on successive deliveries and helped his team bowl out Quetta for a paltry 102 runs.

Tahir- Number three in PSL

The Proteas spinner also became the third bowler after Mohammed Amir and Junaid Khan to bag a hat-trick in the history of the tournament. Meanwhile, Tahir also got his maiden hat-trick in the subcontinent. After his stupendous achievement, Tahir expressed his elation to the media. It’s my first hat-trick in the subcontinent, [so obviously] I’m very pleased. It’s all [because of a great] team effort.” he was quoted as saying by geo.tv.

Tahir, who played in Pakistan for a chunk of his career, also thanked the South African cricket for helping him grow as a sportsman. “Although I grew up playing cricket in Pakistan, I feel proud to play for South Africa. I am forever indebted to South Africa for giving me opportunities and for making my parents’ dream and mine [to play cricket] come true,” he added.

Multan Sultans has had a topsy-turvy season thus far in the tournament. However, despite a couple of losses, they are sitting pretty at the second spot in the league table. The franchise will lock horns with the Peshawar Zalmi on Tuesday at the Dubai International Stadium and will look to cement a berth in the top-four.
