The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were finally able to make their fans happy after winning by 20 runs against SRH. Their hopes of making it to playoffs appeared  dim in the season as they had lost five out of their seven outings but it seems some bright things are on the way. Talking about their squad, the place of Imran Tahir has been inviting a lot of questions recently.

The star spinner, who had the precious purple cap last season, is yet to play his first match in IPL 2020. It is being said that he is not able to find a place in playing XI due to team balance as per the pitch conditions in the UAE. Fans even had an off time when they saw Tahir carrying drinks for his teammates while they were on the field.

However, in the latest turn of developments, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has cleared that the South African leg-spinner will be in the playing XI very soon. He emphasised the fact that current conditions in the UAE asked them to go with two foreign batsmen and fast bowling all-rounders. Since wickets will start turning now, he will land up on the field too soon.

“He will definitely come into the picture as we go ahead. Right now, with the conditions on offer, the team composition has been planned with two foreigners at the top as pure batsmen and then two pace bowling all-rounders. But he will come in with the wickets starting to take a turn in the second half. You have the 4-foreigner restriction so, you always plan according to the conditions on offer,” said Viswanathan as quoted by NDTV Sports.

I am enjoying, and I know how we go about it as a team, says Imran Tahir

Even Imran Tahir understands the situation well and is not complaining at all about his current status. He feels that pitches have started spinning, and he will get  his chance soon, and will be happy to play alongside young talents.

“It has been difficult sitting out, but I have to be honest, I am enjoying, and I know how we go about it as a team. I am happy if we are doing well and waiting for my opportunity, and hopefully will be ready when I get it. Will be a good challenge playing against the young Indian talent. I see the pitches have started spinning a little bit,” Tahir told commentators in the game against SRH.
