Team India led by Ajinkya Rahane will be facing Afghanistan later this week on June 14 in Bangalore in the one-off Test match. This will be the debut for the visitors in the longest format of the game which makes the occasion historic. Yo-Yo fitness test has been made mandatory for every Indian player in order to make it to the team. The Test squad recently underwent the test and the results of the same are out with only 3 days to go for the match.

The hosts are playing without the likes of Virat Kohli, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah who have been rested ahead of the stern England tour while the wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha has been ruled out due to injury. Dinesh Karthik has been roped in as his replacement who will most probably fly to England as the backup option for Saha behind the wickets.

Who didn’t clear the fitness test?

According to the reports in Mirror, all the players of the Test squad have cleared the yo-yo fitness test. Earlier, the BCCI had cleared that the player who will fail to cross the benchmark of 16.1 during the test will be dropped from the team with immediate effect. As far as the Test match is concerned, all the players seemed to have touched or crossed the required mark which has not prompted the board to axe any of them.

Soon, the members of the limited overs squad picked for the Ireland and England tour will go under the mandatory fitness test. All the eyes will be on Virat Kohli as he is recovering from his neck injury which he sustained during the IPL. His historic County stint was also cancelled due to the injury where was set to feature for Sussex in three One-Dayers and 4 first-class matches.
