India and New Zealand have locked horns with each other for the second Test match at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The hosts entered the contest with three changes as Ajinkya Rahane, Ishant Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja who are dealing with injury issues have been replaced by Virat Kohli, Mohammed Siraj, and Jayant Yadav respectively.

With Virat Kohli returning to the setup for the second Test, the onlookers were already raring to watch him fetch in big runs. However, his dismissal in the ongoing match has now raised many eyebrows. Kohli walked in to bat as Cheteshwar Pujara departed for a duck.

Ajaz Patel became the pick of the bowlers for New Zealand as he first sent back Shubman Gill followed by Pujara. But what caught the attention of the netizens is the wicket of India’s Test and ODI skipper. After having sent Pujara back earlier, Patel yet again struck with a lethal delivery in the same over that created problems for Kohli.

The spinner gave a massive appeal and Kohli was given out by the on-field umpire. However, the batter went upstairs to review the decision. As per the visuals viewed by the third umpire the ball was fitting between the bat and the pad as Kohli was on his front foot to defend the delivery. It appeared that one half of the ball was near the inside edge and the other on the pad and thus it became a difficult call.

In the replays, though a spike was seen it was not clear if the ball had hit the bat or the pad first. As there was no conclusive evidence found and the ball hit the stumps in ball tracking the call of staying with the on-field umpire’s decision was taken. This meant that Kohli had to walk back to the hut for a duck on his return.

This decision naturally did not go well with the cricket onlookers and with the batter as well. He tried to have a word with the umpire and then left the field. His frustration over the decision was clearly seen as Kohli hit the boundary ropes on his way to the pavilion.
