So, Virat Kohli’s return to the Indian side lasted a mere 4 balls. The Indian skipper was adjudged Leg Before Wicket to Ajaz Patel and walked back to the pavilion for a duck.

After being adjudged out by the on-field umpire, Kohli went for the review. And, it seemed as if he had got a faint inside edge onto the pad, but according to the third umpire, there was no conclusive evidence to prove that the ball hit the bat before going on to hit the pad.

The master batsman was also not happy with the decision from the third umpire and was seen having a chat with the on-field umpires as well. And, according to Murali Karthik, the decision was a ‘tough squeeze’. You can see the video of Kohli’s dismissal here.

Mayank Agarwal and Shubman Gill give India a solid start

The opening duo of Mayank Agarwal and Shubman Gill provided India a solid start. The Agarwal-Gill duo put on a superb partnership of 80 runs for the 1st wicket. Gill in particular played some gorgeous flicks and drives in his 71-ball stay out in the middle that fetched him 44 runs.

But then, after the dismissal of Gill, India lost two of their big guns in the 30th over bowled by Ajaz Patel. Patel cleaned up Cheteshwar Pujara with a beauty. The ball pitched outside leg stump and spun away from Pujara.

The right-hander went for the flick, but missed the line of the ball and was castled by Patel. And then, came the Big Fish for New Zealand, as Kohli was dismissed for nought. India slipped from 80/0 to 80/3 in the space of just 2 overs as New Zealand are back in the match.

The series scoreline between the two sides stands at 0-0, and the winner of the 2nd Test match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai will go on to clinch the trophy.
