IND vs SA: Clip of ugly brawl at Arun Jaitley Stadium during 1st T20I makes rounds on internet

A video of an ugly brawl in Arun Jaitley Stadium during the 1st India versus South Africa Twenty20 International (T20I) game on June 9 (Thursday) surfaced on the internet as a few spectators, presumably in the East Stand of the stadium, were seen throwing punches at a man before it was brought to a halt by the police.

The reason behind the occurrence of the incident is still unknown, but it drew the attention of the rest of the stand as virtually everybody there was seen watching the incident in shock. On a different note, the T20I game was a thoroughly entertaining one for the spectators as over 400 runs were scored in the evening, although, it ended in despair for the home team and fans.

Second India vs South Africa T20I to be played in Cuttack

The video of the incident was posted by a Twitter user who thought that the cause of the incident may have been due to the man creating problems for other spectators in the stand with his huge Indian flag. The tweet has garnered over 180 retweets and 950 likes since it was posted on June 10 (Friday). However, people in the comment section saw the funny side as one user asked if there was WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) happening in the cricket stadium. 

South Africa won the first game by seven wickets, chasing a total of 212, courtesy of an unbeaten fourth-wicket partnership by Rassie van der Dussen and David Miller. India started the game brightly with batter Ishan Kishan scoring 76 runs off 48 balls at the top. Skipper Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya gave the finishing touch with knocks of 29 off 16 balls and 31* off 12 balls respectively, setting up a total of 211. 

South Africa faced early setbacks after they lost both the openers without much contribution. However, once Dwaine Pretorius arrived at number three, they fired on all cylinders as he scored a quickfire 29 off 13 balls and brought back the momentum in Proteas’ favour. Miller and Van der Dussen picked up from where Pretorius left off, scoring 64* off 31 balls and 75* off 46, respectively.
