The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has felicitated Virat Kohli as the 33-year-old completed 100 Test matches. The former Indian skipper touched the milestone in the first Test against Sri Lanka in Mohali and ahead of the game, Team India players and support staff members honoured the star cricketer. Head coach Rahul Dravid lavished massive praises on Kohli while presenting him a special 100th Test cap.

Notably, Kohli was standing alongside his wife Anushka Sharma while receiving the honour. It was indeed a special and emotional moment for Kohli as he gave a heartfelt speech. He also expressed delight while receiving his 100th Test cap from ‘one of his childhood heroes.’ Notably, alongside Anushka, many of Kohli’s other family members, alongside his childhood coach, are also present at the venue.

Making his Test debut in 2011, Kohli’s journey in the longest format has been nothing remarkable. As his bat didn’t do much talking in the first few games, questions were raised over his technique and temperament. Notably, the likes of Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, and VVS Laxman were staggering in India’s middle-order during Kohli’s early days in Test matches.

However, the then youngster embraced the challenge and soon became a vital cog of the side. He played one staggering knock after another and took India to numerous victories. Besides piling up a mountain of runs, the Delhi cricketer also did phenomenally well in the leadership role.

Taking over the reins from MS Dhoni midway through India’s 2014-15 tour of Australia, Kohli made India a force to reckon with in the longest format. Under him, India also became the first Asian team to record a Test series win on Australian soil. In fact, his tally of 40 wins in 68 Tests is the highest for any Indian skipper in Test cricket. Although Kohli stepped down as skipper earlier this year, he’ll continue to serve the national team as a batter.
