India and Pakistan are set to lock horns in the fifth cricket match of the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022 and the third of Group A, where the two teams are placed. Both India and Pakistan lost their opening fixtures against Australia and Barbados, respectively, and are looking for the first points in order to open their account at the mega event.
India will be the favourite side in the game, given the performance they put up against Australia in their campaign opener. India could have easily won the game, but the team lost control in the death overs and ended up giving away plenty of boundaries. But they did the unthinkable when Renuka Thakur struck not just once but four times in her allotted four overs.
She will yet again have to be at her best as India need to win this game. The same is the case with Pakistan, as having lost the first match, they need to win the remaining fixtures. Being in the top two spots is necessary for all the teams to qualify for the semi-finals. India has previously overpowered Pakistan at such global events, winning nine of the 11 T20I encounters, and thus this clash would turn out to be an interesting one.
Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian skipper, and Shafali Verma, the Indian opener, are in fine touch with the bat and would look to pile up those important runs for the team. Smriti Mandhana also gave a good start to her side as she aimed for the fences as soon as she entered the game, and she would look to repeat the heroics. As for Pakistan, all-rounder Nida Dar will be the player to watch out for.
