Over the years fielding has turned out to be that aspect which drives maximum attention in a game of cricket. Limited-overs cricket demands the highest level of commitment on the field and the Indian team has set the bar as high as it can get over the years. One man who has been a silent contributor to the rising standards of Indian fielding is Abhay Sharma.
The India A and U19 team’s fielding coach is an important member of Rahul Dravid’s unit where they identify, mould and polish young Indian cricketers into the future stars of the game. Abhay has in the past also worked with domestic teams, his exceptional work earned him a spot in the Indian seniors’ team’s coaching unit as well and he takes a lot of pride in the contribution he is making to the sport.
He is in Bangalore with the Indian U19 team for a training camp and celebrated his 48th birthday in the city. Being a spiritual individual he visited various places of worship of all religious beliefs. His day started with a visit to the Madeena Masjid in BTM 2nd Stage area of the city.
He then headed to a Church, the place of worship for the Christians then it was the turn of a temple where the Hindu’s offer their prayers and after praying there his last destination was a Gurudwara.
Being a social figure and someone who a lot of young cricketers in the country look up to Sharma certainly sets high standards in his off-field life as well and maintains an idolizeable personality.
Making his birthday even more special Abhay also went ahead and donated blood.
In a country that has the most diverse culture and religious beliefs, the talks about discrimination and issues between the majority and those who belong to the minor sections of the society are often highlighted. But there are also people like Abhay who defy the restricted social norms of following and respecting just their beliefs set a higher example for people.
