VVS Laxman has been one of the greatest Test players for India. He played some outstanding knocks over the years and left us in awe with his amazingly special elegance. He had a special liking for the Australians and the Indians loved him for that. Laxman now is the mentor of the IPL team Sunrisers Hyderabad.

He was recently in Bangalore for promotion purposes and was asked about Team India’s chances of winning the Champions Trophy and also about his own biopic. Laxman was adamant about his own biopic and said he is not yet there.

On Sachin’s biopic

VVS enjoyed his former teammate and buddy Sachin’s biopic said it was a walk down the memory lane. He also loved the way the movie carried the emotions and also liked how it covered all the struggle. Terming it as “brilliant”, Laxman also discarded the chances of his own biopic.

“Yes, I did watch it and it is brilliant. I loved the way it carried the emotions in it. It, of course, brought back some good memories and also the time we struggled,” the stylish Hyderabadi said while talking to Bangalore Mirror. and when asked about his own biopic, he said “Not ready for it”.

On Champions Trophy

Laxman thinks India is an excellent team and believes they can go through and defend their title. He also picked his semi-finalists. In his view England, Australia and India, South Africa from respective groups will make it to the semi-final.

“We have a very good chance to defend the title, but there are other teams which are equally good. It is very difficult to pick the winner, but for me the four teams which will make the semifinals are England and Australia from Group A and India and South Africa from Group B,” Laxman opined.

On Ravi Ashwin

Ravi Ashwin is believed to have a new weapon added to his arsenal. VVS however, is not surprised as he thinks that all the good players are good because they try to improve and the off-spinner is no different. He revealed that Ashwin has been doing that since the beginning of his career and it is not a surprise to him.

“That’s always been the case with Ashwin or any good player for that matter. It’s because they are always trying to improve. You invent a new shot if you are a batsman. As a bowler, you want to get different balls into your repertoire. You have to have more options because you can’t be predictable. If you get a mystery ball, it will be a surprise element. Ashwin has been doing that right from the first time I first saw him,” Laxman concluded.
