India have displayed some tremendous form in the recent past. Their recent performances can be portrayed in the latest ICC rankings. While they have been ranked on top in the traditional format, they are at the second position in One Day Internationals, just a rating point below South Africa.

And now with the end of the home season, India have a good chance to establish their authority in the shortest format as well. With the last game of the T20I series scheduled at Wankhede, India need to ensure a clean sweep in order to end 2017 as the second-ranked team.

The hosts have recorded sensational victories in the series so far. Sri Lanka were completely outplayed in the batting department during the first game. The previous match saw pure domination by the Indian batsmen who posted a mammoth total. While Sri Lanka would be hoping to end a poor series on a positive note, India will be eyeing a whitewash.

At the moment, India is ranked at the fourth position in the ICC T20I rankings. A win would result in India propelling to the second spot. However, a loss despite a series win will mean, India drop a notch below to the fifth position. Currently, New Zealand and West Indies are tied at second with 120 rating points.

As for Sri Lanka, the 2014 WT20 champions are ranked at the eighth position. With the stakes high for an India win, it would be a surprise if Sri Lanka manages to win today. However, they have shown in the first One Day International that they cannot be undermined. Hence, it’s expected to be a thrilling contest between both the sides, one last time in 2017.

Here are the scenarios based on today’s result:

If India Wins:

1. Pakistan: 124
2. India: 120
3. West Indies: 120
4.  New Zealand: 120

If Sri Lanka Wins:

1. Pakistan: 124
2. West Indies: 120
3. New Zealand: 120
4. England: 119
5. India: 117
