After a breathtaking and an outstanding home season, Virat Kohli-led team India are now ready to challenge the Proteas on their own turf. India ended the calendar year on a high with a massive T20 series whitewash over the visiting Sri Lankan team. But the real test awaits them in South Africa which will be their first overseas tour after the incredible run at home. Former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh feels that the current batting line-up of this Indian team possesses one of the most qualitative batters of the longest format of the game.
The No 1 Test side has covered all the different areas in their team selection for the important overseas tour to South Africa starting early next year. The long tour comprises of 3 Tests, 6 ODIs and 3 T20, starting with the first Test match on January 5, 2018 at Cape Town. It is expected to be a largely competitive and entertaining series between the two top sides in the world at the moment.

The turbanator believes that the Indian batters have the ability to battle out in the conditions in the African contingent. With some of the specialist batsman like Murali Vijay, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane and many more in their ranks, they have the quality to get the better of their opposition team. Harbhajan revealed that this is possibly among the best line-up in world cricket right now.
“Look at the Indian batting line up. We have so much quality. Murali Vijay, Ajinkya Rahane, Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, Rohit Sharma. This is perhaps among the best line-up in world cricket,” said Harbhajan as quoted by TOI.
He feels that it would also be a definite challenge for the South African bowlers to stop this in-form Indian team in the upcoming series. The off-spinner stated that the returning fast bowler Dale Steyn would not be posing a serious threat who is making a comeback to the South African after a long injury break.
“For both Steyn and Morkel, it will be a challenge to stop this line-up especially when they themselves will need to get into the groove,” he added.
