India squad for ACC Emerging Cup announced

The 15-man team India squad was announced on March 10 for the ACC Emerging Cup tournament. The senior selection committee announced the squad and named Tamil Nadu all-rounder Baba Aparajith as captain of the side. On the same day, 25 probables were also named by the junior selection committee for the training camp at the NCA. Talking about the Emerging Cup, it is the premier U23 age group tournament.
The 2017 edition of the tournament will be played at Dhaka, Bangladesh. The series commences on March 15 and will extend till March 26. The 50-overs tournament will have the four major teams in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and hosts Bangladesh. Apart from these 4, the other four participating teams are Afghanistan, UAE, Hong Kong and Nepal. While Baba Aparajith is set to lead the Indian side, Himachal Pradesh player Ankush Bains has been named as his deputy for the tournament.
The team boasts of Mumbai batsman Prithwi Shaw, Jharkhand’s emerging player Virat Singh, Tamil Nadu’s new found bowler Aswin Crist, Hyderabad’s Hanuma Vihari among the prominent names. Baba Aparajith remains to be the most known name and the most experienced player from the lot. He has been a key member of the Tamil Nadu team for quite some time now.
Prithwi Shaw had impressed all with his century on debut for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy this season. Virat Singh played some handy knocks in the Ranji Trophy this year and was a part of the Jharkhand side in the Vijay Hazare Trophy as well. Bengal’s opener, Abhimanyu Easwaran was a heavy run getter in the domestic season this year and has been rightly rewarded for his work.
