The India U19 team enjoyed great success at the ICC U19 World Cup 2018. Unbeaten throughout the tournament, they were the deserving winners of the trophy. The young colts have certainly become big names already. Among the lot who impressed down under, the name of Kamlesh Nagarkoti was the first one to emerge.

Kamlesh Nagarkoti shot to fame when he clocked speeds of over 145 kmph on a consistent basis in the first league game against Australia U19. Recently, as per the quotes in News18, Nagarkoti reflected back at the tournament and revealed that the players were scared of their coach Rahul Dravid. Well, certainly, it was the discipline that Dravid instilled in the young colts working wonders for the team.

“He said the tournament was going on, and there was no point in taking any risk. He would allow us to do a few things here and there, but we had to be back in our hotel by a certain time,” Kamlesh Nagarkoti quoted.

“Actually we were a bit scared of sir. And we thought we should not break the curfew, so we never did it. Honestly we didn’t. Well, we did think about it a few times but then we reasoned that ‘nahi yaar, sir would have had something in mind when putting a curfew in place, so let’s follow it’,” Nagarkoti mentioned.

On being a part of the IPL 2018

During the course of the tournament, the players also had the excitement of knowing about the IPL 2018 auctions. Kamlesh Nagarkoti was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders. He is set to bowl with the likes of Mitch Starc at the KKR camp. Talking about the IPL, he remarked that the excitement among the team was immense.

Nagarkoti revealed that Manjot Kalra, the India U19 opener who scored a century in the finals, also jokingly warned him that he would take the attack against him in the tournament. He rightly noted that they all know about each other’s game plans.

“Manjot (Delhi Daredevils) was telling me ki bachke rehna, maarunga mere saamne aayega toh (Beware I will hit you when you come on to bowl at me). All of us have played against each other a lot and know each other’s games,” he conceded.
